Ignite returned to Northstar for the second round of the DH series, eager to build on their previous success. The team was determined to continue their success and prove that their previous results were no fluke. With a renewed focus and preparation, the riders were ready to tackle the challenging course and surpass their previous performances. The team aimed to show their competitors that they were a force to be reckoned with.
Jonathan Withrow, team Ignites Vet Pro was the first to drop. Just before practice began, his front brake went out. Forcing him to practice the rough and technical course with only his rear brake. Luckily he was able to track down a bleed kit just before practice was over and with the help of Chris Beratlis from My buddy's bikeshop they were able to get the front brake working perfectly, just in time to squeeze one last practice lap in before his race run. Leaving the start box Withrow looked smooth as he made his way down the course. He hit all his lines and carried some serious speed through the many rock gardens. He made it out onto the final stretches pretty much mistake free. As he came out of the trees and onto the last straight, he was giving it everything he had, sending it down the last two drops before crossing the finish line. Withrow would finish 4th for the day, only two second behind 3rd. A solid finish against a stacked field of riders. He looks forward to carrying this momentum into round 3, where he will be looking to snag a podium position.

Michael Ascarrunz was up next, racing for team Ignite in Cat 1 mens 30-39. Ascarrunz left the start box pedaling hard down the first straight, making his way through V rock and the next few sections without any mistakes. He ended up catching one of the riders in front of him about 1/4 way down, but quickly got around him and got back up to speed without loosing to much time. He made it through the final rock gardens and out onto the final section of the course. As he came out of the trees and onto the final straight he was looking fast, sending the final two drops down to the finish line. Ascarrunz would cross the line finishing 2nd. Another solid finish and podium position for team Ignite.

Mike Perez, riding for team ignite in Cat 2 mens 30-39. He had been looking good in practice the day before and was feeling pretty confident leading up to his run. He set a good pace off the start hitting his lines but said he made a few mistakes that cost him some time throughout his run. Perez would cross the line in 6th place, just outside the top 5

First up for our cat 3 mens 11-17 would be Lucas Carroll. Carroll had been looking quick in practice and had some good lines through some of the technical sections of the course. He dropped into his race run and quickly picked up speed as he made his way down the first section coming into V rock. Remaining smooth and consistent through the rest of his run and taking some fast lines through the many rock gardens. He made it out of the trees and onto the final segment of the course pretty much mistake free. This would prove to pay off as he hit the final two drops, crossing the line finishing in 1st place and picking up where he left off at round 1, capturing another win for team Ignite. Carroll will be moving up a category for round 3 and is looking forward to mixing it up with the current field of Cat 2 mens 14-17 racers.

Ryder Withrow would be the last of team Ignites racers to drop into the course for the day. Competing in the mens Cat 3 11-17. He had been looking fast in practice and had his line choices dialed in for his race run. He left the start gate with a fast pace, but unfortunately suffered a big crash in the first section of the course. Withrow, with his never give up attitude, quickly hopped back on the bike and fought hard to make up time as he made his way down the course. He made it through the rock gardens and out of the trees onto the final section of the course as he sent it down the final two drops. Withrow would cross the line in 3rd place, only two seconds off of 2nd place. An impressive finish for the young Ignite racer as he secured another podium finish. This just goes to show what you can achieve if you never give up. The race is never over until you cross the line.
