The final round of the Northstar DH series, was an exhilarating event that lived up to expectations. The competition was fierce and the riders put forth their best efforts, resulting in a thrilling show for spectators. The race showcased some impressive performances and demonstrated the skill and dedication of the participants. Overall, the Riverstyx round of the Northstar DH series was a great success and a fitting end to the exciting series.
Jonathan Withrow would be the first rider to drop for team Ignite at the final round of the Nothstar downhill series. Withrow is sitting 3rd overall for the series in the Vet pro class coming into this last round. He was looking fast in practice and had his line choices dialed for the race run. He sprinted hard out of the start box, opting for the straight line over the rocks and down the first straight away. He carried his speed through the loose and dusty upper section as he crossed over flameout and into the pro/cat 1 segment of the course, making sure to stay focused and hit his lines with precision as this is where he had a get off in practice earlier in the day. Withrow came into Haides looking smooth, opting for the straight line down the near vertical slab of rock as seen in the picture. From here he sprinted the flat sections leading into the final few rock gardens before coming into Pho Dog. Withrow looked fast as he railed the final few turns and made his way down the final straight. He would cross the line P4, a solid finish. This would also secure 3rd overall in the Northstar downhill series.
Michael Ascarrunz was next up for team Ignite. Ascarrunz came into the final round with a good points lead, sitting 1st overall in the Cat 1 mens 30-39. He left the start box pedaling hard, opting for the straight line over the rocks, focusing on carrying speed as he made his way over the jagged rocks and into the loose and dusty upper section. As he crossed over flameout and into the pro/cat 1 section of the course he made a mistake in the first left hand turn, sending him slightly off course. This cost him some time but he was quick to correct and get back up to speed. He came into haides looking smooth, opting for the straight line down the rock face. He focused on carrying his speed and minimizing any mistakes as he came into the final few rock sections and onto pho dog. He looked good coming into the Daytona berms and down the final straight across the finish, crossing the line P4, another solid finish for Ignite. Ascarrunz would also take the series overall, finishing 1st in the Cat 1 mens 30-39.
Lucas Carrol looked good in practice, quickly adapting to the course. Racing for ignite in the Cat 2 mens 14-17. Carrol dropped into the course, setting a fast pace off the start. He carried his speed over the jagged rocks and into the loose and dusty upper section. After transferring onto Flameout, he pedaled hard and picked up speed, carving his way through the corners. As the course veered back onto River Styx it got more techical, Carrol made his way through the rock gardens with ease as he dropped into Pho Dog and pedaled toward the daytona berms. He sent it over the final few jumps and down the straight across the finish line. Carrol would cross the line P7, a solid finish against a stacked field of talented racers.
Forrest Reed would be team Ignites last rider to drop into the course for the day. Reed had been having a lot of fun on the course in practice and was looking fast the day before as he dialed in his lines for todays race. He dropped into the course looking quick as he opted for the straight line over the rocks and down the first straight. He made his way into the loose and steep section and then transferred onto Flameout. He picked up he pace as he made his way though the many turns. As he transferred back onto river sticks his form was on point. Reed made quick work of the technical rock sections leading into Pho Dog. He pedaled hard as he dropped into the Daytona berms and over the final jumps. Reed crossed the line P6, another solid finish for team Ignite.
